Leo Daprile, ChFC, CLU

President

Leo is a 1986 graduate of Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He obtained his Chartered Financial Consultant Designation (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter Designation (CLU) from The American College in 1989. He is a member of the Society of Financial Services Professionals and Professional Insurance Agents of America.

 

He began his career with Gem Young in 1985 and became president of the agency in 1993. Leo’s specific areas of experience are in Retirement and Estate planning.

 

Leo and his wife, Robin, have been married for more than 30 years and together they have three boys; Leo Jr., Lucas and Stephen. He enjoys spending quality time with his family while also golfing, riding his Harley Davidson Road Glide Special and personal fitness training. Leo has served on various charitable and civic boards through the years, and is currently a member of the Finance Committee for the United Way of the Mahoning Valley.

Diana Pringey, CLCS

Operations Manager

Diana holds the Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designation. She earned an associate degree in business from the University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing her bachelor’s. Diana is experienced in the business field having owned and operated a campground in Trumbull County.

Diana is happy to be back in the Mahoning Valley having lived in Rockford, Illinois. She currently resides in Hubbard with her husband, John and is the mother of two amazing children, Heather and Jonathan. Diana enjoys the outdoors including hiking, canoeing and camping.

Steve Smith

Personal Insurance Agent

A proud Beaver Local High School alum, Steve founded the Tri-Ohio Insurance Agency in 1984 in East Liverpool. For more than 34 years, he’s written auto, homeowners and life insurance. When Tri-Ohio became a Gem Young agency in 2004, Steve brought to the team a professional skillset and the experience of owning a business.

 

Steve and his wife, Connie, have been married for over 30 years. He serves as an officer and trustee for a non-profit organization in Salem that provides charitable functions and academic scholarships for students, and helps local veterans in need. Steve is also involved with the United Way.

Samuel G. Morocco RCIP®

Personal Insurance Consultant

A graduate of Kennedy Christian High School and John Carroll University, Sam has held various management positions for national companies before becoming a part of the Gem Young family. Sam focuses on Life Insurance and Long Term Care sales for Gem Young.

Sam is a past holder of the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation. He is actively involved with the Knights of Columbus, Valley Leadership Group and St. Paul the Apostle Church, where he serves in a number of functions.

 

Sam is married to his wife, Marie and together they have three amazing children. He enjoys golfing, playing football and baseball and attending pro and high school football games. Sam is passionate about working out and taking care of himself. He also enjoys spending time with family, friends and co-workers.

Bonnie Macomber

Personal Client Manager

Bonnie is a 1974 graduate of Grove City College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. She’s been a licensed agent for 38 years. Her passion for insurance began when she was a child and her father, who owned an insurance agency, taught her honesty in the business is number one.

Bonnie is the treasurer for the North Jackson Business Association, along with being the co-chairman of trustees of Trinity United Methodist Church in Youngstown and a member of the North Boardman Block Watch. She’s active in animal rescues and has two adult children, Julie and William.

Connie Woolley

Client Service Associate

Connie has many years of experience in the insurance industry having held the CPIW (Certified Professional Insurance Woman) and CISR (Certified Insurance Service Representative) designations as well as completing the IIA (Insurance Institute of America) program.

 

Her career spans 30+ years of serving insurance clients across the Mahoning Valley. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown and active member of St. Charles church, Connie enjoys cooking, especially her famous pizza.

 

Connie and her husband have two boys and enjoy camping, fishing and going to car shows.

Denny White

Risk Management Advisor

Denny provides knowledge and expertise on all insurance lines of business for Gem Young. He brings more than eight years of experience in the insurance industry having worked and managed a nationwide multi-line agency.

 

Denny is a lifelong Boardman resident. He graduated from Boardman High School in 1999 and attended Youngstown State University for business administration. His hobbies include boating, bowling, traveling, camping in his motorhome, collecting and restoring antique and classic cars and spending time with his dog, Major.

 

He’s a member of the Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club and is chairman of their annual car show, “Cars in the Park.”  Denny is also involved with the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals, Valley Leadership Group and Window World Bowling League.

Leo Daprile, Jr.

Risk Management Advisor

Leo has been with Gem Young since 2016 and is focused on commercial lines. He is the third generation of the Daprile family to work at the agency.

 

Leo grew up in Canfield. He attended Canfield High School and graduated from Youngstown State University with his bachelor’s in industrial engineering. He’s currently a member of the Boardman Rotary.

 

In his spare time, Leo enjoys following Cleveland sports, cars, motorcycles, movies (Star Wars), and he is an avid skier.

Pat Ungaro

Risk Management Advisor

Pat joined Gem Young in 2017 and has been in the insurance business for more than four years. He attended East Palestine High School and graduated from Kent State University.

 

An avid aviation fan, Pat has his pilot’s license and enjoys fly-ins and airshows whenever possible. He also likes to golf and shoot sporting clays. Pat enjoys spending time with his dog, Dino and cat, Rocky.

 

Pat is a member of the International Association of Insurance Professionals (IAIP), the Aircraft Owner’s and Pilot’s Association (AOPA) and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).

 

Pat’s focus is on personal insurance and high-value homeowners and related coverage’s.

Cheri Michael

Commercial Insurance Specialist

Cheri joined the Gem Young team in 2017. An Austintown native, she resides there currently with her husband, Dan, and their daughter, Gabby. Cheri received an associate degree in paralegal studies. After 20 years in the legal field, she obtained her Property and Casualty Insurance License. She’s currently a Commercial Insurance Specialist and is in the process of receiving her Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist Certificate (CLCS).

 

Cheri enjoys traveling all over the globe, embracing different cultures and meeting new people. She loves to hike and all things associated with the beach. Most importantly, Cheri appreciates the time she gets to spend with her family.

Teresa Madorno

Receptionist

Teresa joined Gem Young in January 2018 as the firm’s receptionist. A graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, Teresa currently resides in Poland with her husband, Gary. She enjoys to bake, boat, projects around the house, road trips and relaxing on the beach.

Terry Daprile, CIC

Former Vice President (Retired)

Terry is a 1970 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended Youngstown State University. A lifelong area resident, he’s been involved with Gem Young since 1972 serving as a personal lines producer and commercial lines specialist, in addition to overseeing agency operations. In 1990, Terry received his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation and is licensed in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana to sell Life, Health and Property/Casualty products.

 

Currently the Vice President of the Boardman (OH) chapter of Rotary Club, a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Lettau Assembly and a sitting board member of Angels for Animals, Terry has a focused commitment and dedication to the Mahoning Valley.

 

Terry recently remarried and resides in Canfield with his wife, Barbara. Combined, they have five adult children, two grandchildren, two dogs and two cats. When not spending time with his family, Terry enjoys riding his motorcycle, golfing and facilitating the adoption and care of stray animals.

 

Terry retired from Gem Young in January 2017 after 45 years with the agency.
